a little over one week away). The staff is all helpful and working toward her goal. Health South is an answer to our prayers. My mom will come home to our (me and my sisters) care. I cannot say enough about how great this experience was for me and my family. My mother will be home and active again in her own home. I fear that if she had gone to a nursing home extended care, that this would be a different story. I was told that her entire staff would be great teachers and this is true!
My husband has been at Health South in Fort Smith, Arkansas, three different times. The last time I requested the hospital he was in to send him there for rehab. After his stroke three years ago, a doctor told me he needed a nursing home because he would be bedridden. Health South got him up and able to transfer from his wheelchair to the bed and toilet (hes missing his left leg at mid-knee). The staff is always attentive without ever being rude or angry at what they need to do to help him. They make sure he gets all his therapy treatments and works him hard so he will be able to do things for himself at home.
Health South took horrible care of my great grandma. She was not given any food or medicine, so she starved for 4 days and lost a great amount of weight. They were too lazy to give her a bed bath, and continued to put their job of taking care of her, off on to other workers. They only checked on her once or twice a day, so we made sure a family member was there with her at all times. Anytime we asked if they were going to do what they were supposed to do, they said they had other things to do. This lead to my grandma being sent to intensive care on life support in Fayetteville, but she is in good hands now thankfully. She was totally neglected and no one deserves to be treated the way she was treated at Health South.This place is filled with lousy people and it breaks my heart knowing that my sweet, helpless nanny didnt get the care that she needed. I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Sick.
I would not recommend this place to anyone. My mother went from being able to walk an eat to strapped in a wheelchair.With Parkinson's an Alzheimer's she needed food she could feed herself. They gave her soup,plain tuna sandwich.No one helped to see if she ate. The care was horrible. Thank goodness I went everyday or no telling what would have happened.
